California, Arizona, and Florida have constitutional amendments on the ballot to ban homosexual “marriage.” Liberty Counsel examines the Florida amendment as well as the repercussions of the federal election.

Matt StaverMat Staver of Liberty Counsel tells OneNewsNow the stakes are high in Florida because passage of a constitutional amendment requires 60 percent of the vote. “Right now the polls show about 57 percent in favor of the amendment. The good news is only 34 percent oppose the amendment,” he explains. “There is an undecided factor in there. I believe that factor will swing for us when they go to the polls.”

However, he also points out the national election could affect all states in terms of homosexual marriage. If elected president, Barack Obama has promised to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, which currently means states cannot be forced to recognize homosexual marriages that are legal in other states.

“Now if that happens, that will be like removing the dam and same-sex marriage will flood across the country, notwithstanding the fact that a state even has a constitutional amendment,” he contends. “A state will be required to recognize either Massachusetts or California or some other state’s same-sex marriage law. That means same-sex marriage will literally rush across the borders of all 50 states.”

Staver urges people from every state to think carefully before they cast their votes on Tuesday.

I came across this story in CNN and I think it needs to be read by all, what a wonderful testimony of Faith for this Minister here is his story the story of Robert Rogers as reported by CNN:

Five years ago, Robert Rogers was driving home with his family from a wedding when a flash flood took his wife and four children from him in an instant. Rainfall from a torrential downpour swept the Rogers’ minivan off a Kansas highway. As water filled the van, Rogers kicked out a window in a last-ditch effort to save his family. Instead, he and his wife, Melissa, and daughter, Makenah, were sucked out of the van. Hours later, the bodies of children Zachary, 5, Nicholas, 3, and Alenah, 1, still buckled in their car seats, were found inside the van.

Rogers survived. Instead of falling into despair, he became a minister dedicated to honoring his family by preaching messages of hope in the face of adversity.

“It was a huge choice of faith,” Rogers told CNN. “It was a determination to live life to honor God, to honor my heavenly family, and to make something productive out of it and not just to wallow in my pity.” Rogers’ mission manifests itself in a variety of ways. In the past five years, he estimates he has told the story of his loss at least 400 times to more than 120,000 people. The message behind his story is to live life with no regrets by embracing your family and faith.

“People have responded to me that they want to change the way they live their life. They want to have a personal relationship with God and they want to get right with their spouse and children,” he said.

In addition to his speaking tours, Rogers has established a ministry dedicated to serving orphans across the world. Rogers also traveled to Haiti and tsunami-ravaged parts of Asia to minister and deliver aid to orphans. Video Watch Rogers talk about his ministry »

His mission is to establish five orphanages in five continents to symbolize the five family members he lost. One, called Melissa’s House, already exists in Russia, where eight orphan teens live with a married couple, and another is under construction in Rwanda.

“We dedicated it in honor of Melissa because she loved being a mom and I hope she is a role model to these girls,” Rogers said.

Since that fateful day five years ago, Rogers has begun to heal. He is married with one child and another on the way. More than anything, he hopes his story will inspire others to live each day to its fullest.

“We are not guaranteed the next five seconds,” Rogers said. “Life is very fragile and I hope my stories and inspirations are compelling people to live that life of no regrets.”

A daily guide for parents to pray for their child. Any age child is still their child, and a parent can feel just a little more comfortable when she knows that her child is in her prayers. As God hears these prayers, we can find comfort that our children will be watched over.

  • Monday:
    Ask the Lord to completely surround your children with emotional, physical, and spiritual protection.
  • Tuesday:
    Pray that the Lord will strengthen your child’s faith and will fill them with a passionate desire to want to seek and know Him, His word and His will.
  • Wednesday:
    Ask the Lord to give your children godly wisdom in choosing their friends and peers, and to give them the strength and courage to boldly take a stand for what is right.
  • Thursday:
    Pray that the Lord would renew your children’s mind, helping them remain pure in their thoughts and deeds.
  • Friday:
    Ask the Lord to extend His blessing over the activities of your children, both academic and extracurricular, giving them alertness and clarity of mind. Pray also for encouragement in their defeats and humility in their victories.
  • Saturday:
    Pray that your children will be sensitive and compassionate to the needs of others, and that the Lord will help them act in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
  • Sunday:
    Pray for, and seek blessings for those who are in authority over your children, asking the Lord to give them wisdom and understanding as they instruct your children.

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ. A Christian has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, tries to obey Him in all things, and draws on His strength to help with problems.

God made us for Himself and our souls are restless until they find rest in Him. Only God can fill the void in your life. The answer to your search is accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life. To become a Christian, you need to know these basic facts from the Bible:

  1. God loves you. Because of God’s love for all persons, He desires that you have unbroken fellowship with Him.

  2. You are a sinner. All persons are sinners in that they disobey God. Sin is choosing to go your own way and do your own thing as opposed to being obedient to God.
    (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10)
  3. Sin separates you from God. Sin forms a barrier that prevents you from entering into unbroken fellowship with God, Who is holy. As an unholy sinner, you cannot have fellowship with God. You are headed for a Christless eternity that the Bible calls hell.

  4. You can’t save yourself. People often think that through their efforts they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God. That isn’t true. There’s nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God. You can’t earn God’s salvation.
    (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5)
  5. God sent His Son Jesus to remove the sin barrier. The death on the cross of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, removed the sin barrier between you and God, Jesus died for your sins, taking your punishment on Himself. God did for you in Jesus Christ what you couldn’t do for yourself.

  6. You can receive Jesus Christ through faith. Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put you in right relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance or genuine sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from sin.
    (John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10)
  7. Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ. Admit to God that you are a sinner. Express sorrow or repentance for your sinfulness. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord. Thank Him for entering your life. Commit yourself to live for Him.

Accepting Christ is the beginning. After accepting Him, be obedient by following Christ in baptism and by uniting with a church. Talk with another Christian about your decision for Christ.
